2018 Ford Mustang 10 Speed Auto EcoBoost Complete Review

Here it is! The All New Redesigned 2018 Ford Mustang! Ford did a great job on the new redesign. The one that we have here with us today is the EcoBoost model and it has the 10-Speed Automatic Transmission. Both the 2018 Mustang GT and EcoBoost have increased Torque. The EcoBoost going up 30 LB-FT of Torque to 350 LB-FT and the GT going up 20 LB-FT to 420 LB-FT of Torque. Also, the GT 5.0L has an increase in Horsepower by 25HP making it the most powerful 5.0L ever seen in a Mustang. Lots of new changes to the Pony include a new front end redesign! Quad tips on the dual exhaust of the GT. The new precise quick shifting 10-Speed Automatic Transmission. The optional 12 inch digital display gauge cluster. New hood vents. The exhaust note of our Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 continues to delight our eardrums. Associate online editor Joseph Capparella sums it up well: “I didn’t even bother with the radio because all I wanted to hear was the engine.” Yes, the 5.2-liter flat-plane-crankshaft V-8 is that special. And the urge to spin the tachometer into oblivion has yet to wear off, which has kept our observed fuel economy holding steady at a modest but acceptable 17 mpg. Drivers regularly rave about the feel coming through the electrically assisted steering system to the microsuede-wrapped steering wheel, and the electrically assisted setup it controls is top-notch, communicating clear messages about surface textures and grip from the front tires’ interface with the surface below. For 2018, Ford makes some changes to the GT that earn it more of our attention. Clearly we are gaga for high-revving V-8s, so we love that the GT’s conventional cross-plane V-8 now revs to 7400 rpm, 400 more than before and a mere 850 short of the GT350’s. Direct injection joins port injection, and the compression ratio rises from 11.0:1 to 12.0:1, bumping horsepower from 435 to 460, or 66 shy of the GT350. Torque rises from 400 pound-feet to 420. Other changes include the swapping of steel cylinder liners for a spray-in coating, a change that increases displacement from 4951 cubic centimeters to 5038. Don’t worry; it’s still a five-oh.
