Lifecasting Tutorial: Accucast 590 Face Cast

In this lifecasting tutorial we show a basic face cast using Accucast 590 http://www.brickintheyard.com/products/ac590-25lb . We already have a few casting videos dealing with face casts, but as any experienced lifecaster will tell you, there are way too many points to cover in a single video. In addition to Accucast 590 tips we also cover the basix mixing/casting of Hydrocal plaster. Get Lifecasting supplies from our store: http://www.brickintheyard.com/collections/life-casting-supplies

It's free! :D http://www.bloglovin.com/en/blog/2609935/klairedelys/follow The lenses I use are coloured contacts, NOT for my vision. They're meant for cosplaying, dressing up or just a one-off. They are not meant to be worn constantly. You should ALWAYS check with an optician before purchasing lenses just to make sure they're ok. If you have a history of eye problems, if your eyes are different shapes, of if the lenses just don't feel right DO NOT USE THEM. Always keep your tools clean. I always wash the tweezers after using them and make sure that the lens cases are super clean. I learned at lot of new tips and tricks for this video from Earaness, check him out his makeup is awesome!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ2m8Bi3LVE&feature=related I've said this in the video but I just want to say it again, ALWAYS check with an optician before doing anything with your eyes. -------------------------------------------------------------- Where else to find me: Website/Blog: ‪‪‪‪http://www.klairedelys.com‬‬‬‬ Twitter: ‪‪‪‪http://twitter.com/KlairedeLys‬‬‬‬ Facebook Page: ‪‪‪‪https://www.facebook.com/pages/Klaire-de-Lys/128984429746?ref=ts‬‬‬‬ My second Channel: ‪‪‪‪http://www.youtube.com/user/KlairedeLysdotcom‬‬‬‬ Deviant Art Account: ‪‪‪‪http://klairedelys.deviantart.com/‬‬‬‬ Google+ : ‪‪‪https://plus.google.com/u/0/stream?tab=G#109311808933297815502/posts‬‬‬ Tumblr: ‪‪http://klairedelys.tumblr.com/‬‬ -------------------------------------------------------------- What I used: -Contact lenses (single colour grey): http://www.funkylenses.co.uk/patterns.html -Lens Tweezers can be found on e-Bay :) -(And for those of you asking the earrings here is the seller I bought them from): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Earrings-Large-Brass-Key-STEAMPUNK-/130568795393?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_CostumeJewellery_CA&hash=item1e6681b501 Just as a precaution I'm going to paste the FAQ's from the contact lens company I buy my lenses from: Soak your Funky Eyes in solution for at least 2 hours before wearing them. Yes, I can breathe. Welcome to a claustrophobe's worst nightmare, but I actually found it really relaxing.

After last weeks hand cast tutorial the perfect follow up is a face cast tutorial. Again I was very lucky to have Stuart Bray demonstrate the whole process, Stuart has worked on films like Gladiator, The Mummy and Shaun of the Dead, and if you're into special effects I highly recommend you check out his website for some great tutorials!

I know a few people are like "eh? What's this for".....just wait ;) This face cast should be getting used in quite a few future tutorials on both channels.

"I sent a response on your blog, and maybe we need to put out some kind of bulletin as a lot of people didn't seem to watch the vid properly.

"There is a worryingly large amount of people who seem to think people gladly suffocate for this process, but clearly this is not the case.

The whole point is to attend to the nostrils FIRST so they are done and cleat BEFOTE covering the whole face. Then it is simply just breathing normally as you do anyway...that is what those two holes in your nose are for, after all.

If someone cannot breath normally through the nose, then you can work around aslightly open mouth. This is not ideal as it can cause theower lip to pull down, and drooling to occur.

I never, ever use straws as they distort the nostril shape, can become dislodged and if knocked carve grooves into the nasal passage.

Should a nostril ever be covered, simply blow through the nose to clear, or open the mouth (the material is still fluid at this point). Once the alginate sets, it no longer moves and so cannot block anything.

Having done literally thousands of lifecasts, including many actors, I assure you this is safe if you know the materials and can control it. In answer to the many times asked question 'how do you breathe?, the answer is 'through the nostrils'.

I think it is also more disconcerting to watch than to have it done. I know how it feels, as I have had everything cast myself many times over, including full head and body casts!

This is one of the many processes which need to be done well to produce good prosthetics, and like many things, the final result on screen does not reveal the skills and amount of effort required to produce it.

Stuart"
